Dr. Fotini Vafeiadou-Tsolakidou microbiologist-biopathologist operates the “HEMODIAGNOSIS” laboratory in Alexandroupoli, a state-of-the-art microbiology laboratory equipped with the latest analyzers from Roche Diagnostics and Siemens, which utilize the most advanced methods offering high sensitivity, specificity, reproducibility, and accuracy. Strict, daily, internal quality control is performed on the state-of-the-art equipment, and monthly external quality control is conducted on the results. All laboratory analysts communicate bidirectional with the LIS system to fully automate the processing of tests and eliminate the possibility of error at both pre-analytical and post-analytical stages. The high level of expertise and training among the staff, the state-of-the-art laboratory equipment, as well as the laboratory’s participation in external and internal quality control programs, guarantee both the reliability and validity of the medical results, and the provision of high-quality services in the field of diagnosis and prevention as well. The scientific staff continuously expands its knowledge by participating in seminars and conferences on all the latest developments in the field of health. The doctor has extensive experience drawing blood from children and infants, and home blood draws are also available by appointment. Results can be sent via email, completely free of charge, to the patient or the attending physician. The Hemodiagnosis microbiology laboratory performs the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus genome detection test using the Real-Time PCR method (Reference Method) and can send the results the same day. The laboratory also performs rapid tests to detect the SARS-CoV-2 antigen and antibody tests for the virus (quantitative determination), which are also measured following vaccination. The laboratory consists of the following departments: Hematology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Virology, Endocrinology, Serology, Microbiology, Molecular Testing and Genetics, Coagulation and Thrombophilia Testing, Drug and Narcotic Levels, Neoplastic and Cardiac Markers. Finally, more specialized tests for investigating male infertility are also performed, such as a complete semen analysis, microbiological, immunological, biochemical, and genetic semen testing, and sperm DNA fragmentation (DFI) and oxidative stress in sperm.
